Is light travertine cooler than white porcelain?
By the physics and by published Florida claims, yes: travertine is porous and thick, porcelain is dense and 2 cm thin, so porcelain heats faster in sun and cools faster in shade. The local study will measure the difference; expect it to be smaller than the gap between either and gray concrete.
Is shellstone a good pool deck around a salt pool?
It's the same calcium carbonate chemistry as travertine, so yes with the same discipline: seal the coping annually, rinse the field, never use acid cleaners. Its open texture grips very well wet.
Which needs the least maintenance?
Porcelain: no sealing, no etching, no efflorescence. Its one demand is a base flat to 1/8 inch.
