What's different about pool decks in Gulf Gate

A worked example

Scope: demolition, 4 inches of crushed base compacted in two lifts, isolation joint at the shell with a flexible sealant, two deck drains, a 4-inch fiber-reinforced 4,000 PSI deck with #3 rebar along the cage, knockdown texture in a light sand tone, cage re-anchored. Eight working days. Planning band: $7,500 to $11,000.
Why does the deck crack right along the pool?
Because it was poured tight to the shell in 1972 with no isolation joint; the pool and the deck move differently and the deck loses. The new deck gets a compressible joint and a flexible sealant at the coping.
