What does a paver driveway cost in Port Charlotte?

About $14 to $22 per square foot installed, so a 520-square-foot driveway runs roughly $7,300 to $11,400 plus demolition, the swale crossing and Charlotte County's fees ($22 zoning review, $310 line and grade at issuance, $90 if the work is only in the right-of-way) and a recorded Notice of Commencement over $5,000.

What's different about driveways in Port Charlotte

Port Charlotte's grid was platted by GDC with roadside swales, so a paver driveway includes the crossing: a culvert the county sizes, ends set back from the frontage line, the swale regraded, and a line-and-grade inspection. On the lot, 6 inches of compacted base in lifts over Myakka and Immokalee sand, herringbone for the tires, a curb in concrete along the street edge. Canal lots in Gulf Cove and Grassy Point see brackish spray and seal every 18 to 24 months; the interior grid seals every 2 to 3 years.

Riverwood and Heritage Oak Park keep color lists; the grid doesn't.

Rules that apply here

Charlotte County residential driveway permit (or ROW permit if only in the right-of-way), all flatwork including pavers permitted and inspected, NOC over $5,000, published fees (rules); ARC in the gated communities.

A worked example

A 1981 Section 15 home with a 520-square-foot cracked driveway and a swale crossing with no culvert. Charlotte County permit and NOC. Scope: demolition, culvert to the county's size, swale regraded, 6 inches of base in three lifts, herringbone field in a light gray blend with a charcoal border, concrete curb at the street, polymeric sand, line-and-grade inspection, sealing at 30 days. Planning range: $10,000 to $14,500 including the culvert and fees.

Does Charlotte County inspect a paver driveway?

Yes; the county states that all flatwork including pavers requires a permit and inspections, and the crossing gets a line-and-grade inspection. The job card lists what's inspected and when.
