What's different about patios & lanais in Fruitville & Bee Ridge
The Meadows villas and homes from the 1970s and 80s have lanai slabs that mostly pass the five overlay tests: sound, no offset cracks, sloped away, room under the threshold, water leaving the cage. Travertine or a light paver over them, thin-set or sand-set with a perimeter curb, is the standard upgrade, with a a slot drain sawn into the deck where the cage traps water. New backyard patios on Bee Ridge and Fruitville lots go on a compacted 4-inch crushed-rock base over the wet-season sand, sloped to a swale or a dry well.

Sub-association and master approvals took a month; no county permit for the overlay. Planning band: $8,000 to $10,500.
Does The Meadows allow travertine on a lanai?
The material has been approved routinely, but each sub-association keeps its own guideline and the master reviews visible changes; a lanai floor inside a cage is usually the easiest approval in the community. Submit the sample and the drain detail.
